Overview
Process Server in Kazakhstan: How Service of Process Works
Kazakhstan has lodged no objections whatsoever to Article 8 or to any of the Article 10 alternatives, making it one of the most genuinely flexible jurisdictions covered on this site — postal service, direct service by judicial officers, and service by other competent persons are all valid, alongside the formal Central Authority route through the Department for Provision of Courts' Activity under the Supreme Court. Documents must be in Kazakh or Russian, Kazakhstan's official languages, or accompanied by a translation into one of them.

Who Can Serve Legal Documents in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is a civil-law country. Since February 2023 the Central Authority has been the Judicial Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the courts that carry out service complete the Certificate of Service.
Kazakhstan has not objected to any Article 10 method or to consular service, so postal service and direct service are available. Documents are accepted if they are in Kazakh or Russian, or translated into one of them.
Most papers we serve in Kazakhstan, whether in Astana or the regions, are an iskovoe zayavlenie (statement of claim), followed by court orders, injunctions and judgment notices. Defendants may be anywhere from Astana to Western Kazakhstan, and we cover the whole country.

Postal or Direct Service (Article 10)
Since Kazakhstan has lodged no objections to any Article 10 method, postal service and direct service by a competent local official are valid, often faster alternatives to the formal Central Authority route.
Supreme Court Central Authority Filing
For the formal treaty channel, we submit requests through the Department for Provision of Courts' Activity under the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan.
Certified Kazakh or Russian Translation
We prepare certified translations into Kazakh or Russian, Kazakhstan's official languages, as required under Article 5(3).
